Participation at the International Open Government Data Conference

Director of the MSB Centre of Excellence, Dr. Maurice Mcnaughton attended the recent International Open Government Data Conference (IOGDC) co-hosted by the Data.gov program and the World Bank on July 10-12, 2012. The conference brought together more than 400 people from 50 countries -- technologists, government officials, civil society organizations and the private sector -- for three days of intense discussions, where more than 100 speakers shared their experiences, stimulated new ideas, and demonstrated the power of putting open data to work.

Dr. McNaughton participated in a panel discussion "Getting Started in Open Government Data” chaired by  World Bank Open Data Evangelist,Tariq Khokhar  that also featured:
  • Eric Bensel, Program Co-ordinator, PARIS21 (The strengthening of national statistical systems in developing countries)
  • Tiago Piexoto: Open Government Specialist, World Bank Institute ICT4Gov Program (Using technology to create and improve citizen participation in goverment)
  • Phil Ashlock, Open Government Program Manager, Open Plans (Technology and standards to help national and local governments better listen to citizens)
